Interesting discussion. I do agree with the general discussion but concerning the automotive sector and EV growth, there is a piece that I would like to add.

Right now the supply of EV batteries is decided entirely on the availability of Lithium, Cobalt and Nickel, the deposits of which globally are almost 100% dominated by China.

This has led to the ability for China to drive EV development and Adoption at unprecedented scale, and at the same time establish EV batteries as a bargaining chip at the geopolitical table. The result of this is the increased proliferation of hybrid technologies such as Toyota’s hybrid powertrain or Nissan E-Power across global markets as manufacturers hedge against the supply risk. This in turn has resulted in governments in these regions delaying their infrastructure to support EVs such as enhanced power grids, charging stations, etc, as well as the removal of EV related subsidies.

Japan and Europe have been working to develop a solid state battery, and until this becomes a market reality (perhaps 5 years from now), the use of gasoline will continue to be a major part of global transportation (personal and commercial).
